my training

I am a registered teacher on the listing of the UK Network Network for Mindfulness-Based Teacher Training Organisations. This is the only place to find teachers who have been assessed to prove that they meet the UK Network of Mindfulness-based Teachers Good Practice Guidelines.
I've met these through:
I am also in the third year of a four-year MA in mindfulness-based Psychotherapy at the Karuna Institute, accredited by Middlesex University.
I've met these through:
- taking part in an on-going program of professional development through the Centre for Mindfulness at Bangor University
- going on regular retreats
- having consistent supervision for my teaching
- engaging in networks of teachers and supervisors to keep on learning

My Journey into mindfulness
I begun practising in 2009 when I was recommended a book by Jon-Kabat Zinn and colleagues. I begun to realise how much of the time I could be more aware of what was happening in and around me.
Around that time I trained as a secondary school languages teacher through Teach First and I found my mindfulness practice incredibly helpful to navigate the challenges of teaching.
It struck me as so logical for us to teach this practical understanding of the mind in schools. After attending one of the first .b teacher trainings in 2011, I begun teaching mindfulness to my pupils and colleagues. A copy of a blog post I wrote about my experiences teaching pupils can be found here.
The feedback I received was so promising that from January 2014 I begun working full time on mindfulness in schools.
My own experience as a school teacher is invaluable when I am working in schools. I can speak the language of teachers and have a solid grasp of the the realities they face in their working life.
